Duo Argentis
About Us
Duo Argentis, formed by Maia Roberts and Lottie Mahoney, was founded in 2021 during their studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Since then, the duo have performed extensively at a variety of concerts and events, both as a duo and with piano. Their achievements include winning the Leamington Music Prize in 2025, alongside pianist Alex Wyatt.
As passionate chamber musicians, Duo Argentis are dedicated to delivering memorable performances and creating engaging evenings filled with diverse repertoire. They seamlessly blend classical masterpieces with lesser-known works, spanning from the Baroque era to contemporary compositions.
The duo have executed performances at prestigious venues such as the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Othello press night, Shrewsbury Cathedral, and Leeds Conservatoire. With artistry and enthusiasm, Duo Argentis continues to inspire audiences and uphold their commitment to exceptional chamber music.

Lottie Mahoney
Lottie Mahoney grew up on the Norfolk broads, whilst attending Guildhall Young Artists, Norwich. graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) in 2025 with a Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours.
Lottie is currently completing her Master's degree at RBC, generously supported by the Laurin and Arthur Glaze Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship, and Help Musicians Postgraduate Award. Lottie has recently deputised on the UK Tour of Mary Poppins and with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO). Lottie is also currently on the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra's Side-by-Side Scheme.
During her time at the conservatoire, she has been awarded places on the Birmingham Royal Ballet's Student-in-Residence Scheme, granted to one RBC student, and the CBSO's Training Scheme, rehearsing with both orchestras. Lottie enjoys performing in chamber ensembles, and recently won the Brian Midgley Chamber Prize with her flute, clarinet and piano trio.
Lottie has been awarded prizes and funding from the Wolfson Foundation, the UK Universal Music Sound Foundation, and the James Langley Memorial Trust, alongside scholarships to summer schools such as the Oxford Flute Summer School and the Music Summer School and Festival in Norfolk.
Maia Roberts
Maia Roberts, from South Cornwall, began learning the flute aged 7. By the age of 12 she had completed her grade 8 with distinction. Maia was heavily involved in the thriving music scene in Cornwall, winning the Rotary West Cornwall Young Musician of the Year, as well as the grade 8 class, concerto class and highest mark of the festival at the Cornwall County Music Festival.
Currently, Maia is completing her Postgraduate Certificate at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She was awarded the prestigious Musicians' Company Wind Award and the Help Musicians Postgraduate Award. Maia graduated from the Conservatoire in 2025 with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours, studying with Marie-Christine Zupancic, Andrew Lane, Helen Benson, and Alena Walentin. Throughout her studies, Maia won the British Flute Society Piccolo award and was a finalist in the Birmingham Philharmonic Concerto Prize. In her 1st and 3rd years, Maia was awarded a place on the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Training Scheme. She has also gratefully received support from the Radford Trust, James Langley Memorial Trust and Maddocks Mills Trust to fund a new piccolo and instrument repairs during her studies.
Maia is deeply committed to outreach and education, actively participating in the RBC Learning and Participation ensemble. She has traveled across the country, mentoring young musicians and bringing music to communities. One of her memorable performances includes performing Hansel and Gretel with the CBSO as part of an outreach project.
